This is a role-playing journal for Aternaville.
Character Demographics:
Fandom: Firefly
Name: Inara Serra
Age: mid- to late 20’s (?)
Physical Appearance: long black hair, brown eyes, slender figure that she must maintain for her trade; usually dressed in ornate gowns of elegant fabric, accessorized with all manner of necklaces and bracelets
Religion: Buddhist
Education: years of Companion training at House Madrassa on Sihnon
Occupation: Registered Companion
Significant Other: Hmm, dating is…complicated.
Sexual Preference: whomever desires her services
Character Biography:
History: Born on Sihnon and trained at House Madrassa, some say Inara could have been House Priestess but she’s not fond of complications. She left there and traveled the 'Verse as a Companion in residence on a Firefly-class transport ship named Serenity. The ship carried a diverse crew whom Inara came to know and love, though not necessarily both emotions at the same time. But when faced with the prospect of confronting her true feelings for the ship’s captain, Malcolm Reynolds, and the strength of her connection to the ship’s crew (contrary feelings to her Companion training), she chose to leave the ship and return to a training house.
Personality in seven words or less: artistic, calm, composed, empathetic, persuasive, understanding
How Others Perceive Your Character: Their assessment runs the gamut from “glamorous” to “whore.”
Beliefs, Convictions, Morals: Inara supported Unification and adheres to Guild law, despite being on a ship that routinely flouts Alliance regulations. She believes every problem is an opportunity in disguise, is loyal to her friends, and is not fond of being judged or treated as someone’s property.
Reason for Escaping to Canada: When Inara left Serenity for the training house, she thought it would be her new home. She would devote herself to teaching future Companions; it would be fulfilling and rewarding and safe. No threat of gunshots or knife wounds or laser burns. But after some time had passed, she found herself missing being out in the black, spending time with the crew. Even missing Mal, though she'd never admit it. Plus, the crop of trainees at the house were so inexperienced and headstrong, she was frustrated rather than fulfilled most of the time. There were rumors of a time rip on Bellerophon, of a way to travel to another dimension. And Inara had always loved travel. She might meet some very interesting people on the other side of the portal.
